We would like to bring you up to date on the latest developments. We will do this by following the four core values: Vulnerability, Strength, Skill and Art.

Vulnerability

COVID-19

In the time of COVID-19, practical care took priority and we had to accept that the vulnerability of our target group had consequences for the implementation of the Veder Method in nursing homes. Now we use digital workshops to provide inspiration. Thereby, we had to postpone a number of activities, and even cancel some. This had consequences for projects for the elderly in Brabant, Hilversum, Friesland, Amsterdam and Flanders.

Internationalization

Since spring 2021, we have been working on digitizing professional healthcare training. You can read a report on the contacts made in Suriname and the Caribbean here . You can watch a video of the visit to Suriname and the Caribbean in 2019 here .

Development of the digital programme

At the beginning of September, a second round of a digital program for teachers in care and welfare started at Alfa College Groningen and Drenthe College.

Feedback from a teacher: "The day flew by, I got many tips on how to work digitally with poetry and storytelling."

Art

Saudi and Boxtel

We have been in contact with Saudi sociologist Nada Elyas since 2011. Dr Elyas specializes in elderly care. She participated in the digital program and would like to transfer the method to Arab culture.

In 2015, Theater Veder did a trial performance at the Wereldhuis in Boxtel. This is a care facility that pays a lot of attention to the cultural, often Muslim backgrounds of their residents with dementia. Two Arabic-speaking actresses took part in the performance. The theatrical element proved insufficient for the culture; making a connection with poetry and storytelling was more effective.
